JinkoSolar supplies 34MW of PV modules to Chile project

Tier-one PV module manufacturer JinkoSolar has supplied 33.67MW of PV modules to Chilean renewable energy company Rijn Capital for the San Pedro III PV Plant Phase I project in Chile.

The project, located south of Calama in the Antofagasta region of Northern Chile, was completed and connected to the grid in April and will produce around 100GWh of electricity per year. It will use 110,400 JinkoSolar PV modules.

The project secured US$104 million long-term financing from local commercial bank CorpBanca, while Portuguese utility EFACEC provided engineering, procurement and construction services.

Rijn Capital , established by Dutch investment company Rijn Capital BV, has 500MW of PV projects under development in Chile.

Vitorino Rocha, EFACEC’s general manager of Renewables Business Division said: “We believe that this project will not only serve as an example of the application of renewable energy to the rest of the region but also demonstrate EFACEC’s commitment to providing quality and customised solutions to each project it works on.”

Xiande Li, chairman of JinkoSolar, said: “We are growing our market share and reinforcing our leadership position in Chile and other emerging PV markets with this project.”
