OPEL Solar has advised of its recent agreement with Energi Insurance Services, which will see the solar company buy Energi’s Manufacturer’s Product Warranty (MPW) Insurance for its TF-800 solar tracking systems. The additional insurance will supplement the company’s five-year limited, or optional 10-year extension, warranty, for material and equipment.

The company also revealed that it had completed an independent technology assessment for its TF-800 tracking systems with BEW Engineering and a structural analysis, with wind tunnel testing, through Lauren Engineers and Constructors (Lauren) and Rowan Williams Davies and Irwin (RWDI). BEW also conducted a technology assessment for the TF-800 single axis tracker and underlying engineering fundamentals for the solar tracker.

Lauren and RWDI performed wind testing on OPEL’s products, testing the tracker’s endurance under winds of 90mph. Lauren completed an independent structural wind analysis through computer modeling, while RWDI conducted live wind tunnel tests to verify the design against actual wind forces. According to OPEL, in both tests, the TF-800 exceeded the requirements set forth by the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Institute of Steel Construction.

“Product warranty and structural validations of the OPEL's TF-800 tracker add another level of comfort and security for consumers and end purchasers of our advanced solar products. Particularly, with Energi's MPW insurance coverage, purchasers can be confident that the warranties supplied with the OPEL trackers will be supported and backed-up,” said Leon Pierhal, CEO of OPEL Technologies.
