Market research firm IHS believes that Belgium-based PV project developer and systems integrator, Enfinity has been taken over by American investment group EverStream Energy Capital Management, established by SunEdison.

IHS said that Enfinity had close to 100MW of ‘advanced project stage opportunities’ and was ranked as the 8th largest PV system integrator globally, by installation volume of around 400MW.

The Enfinity take-over, according to Senior Solar Analyst Josefin Berg at IHS indicates expansion challenges for Europe-based PV companies.

IHS expects Europe to install 11.5GW of PV in 2013, down from 21.5GW in 2011, which is being treated as the peak year.

However, the move by EverStream could be part of SunEdison’s continued pipeline building, centred on smaller-scale PV projects in regionally disburse regions that can funded, built and sold faster than larger-scale projects.

IHS expects SunEdison will be the world’s fourth largest PV system integrator in 2013.
