Quanta Power Generation wins 40MW EPC contract

Quanta Services has announced its subsidiary Quanta Power Generation has been awarded an EPC contract by Con Edison Development (CED) to develop two 20MW PV facilities.

Under the terms of the contract — which was signed with CED’s SPS White River and subsidiaries SPS Corcoran — Quanta Power Generation will design, engineer, procure and construct a 20MW PV facility in Kings county, California, and another 20MW PV plant in Tulare county, California.

In total, the two facilities will utilise approximately 176,000 polycrystalline PV modules mounted to a single-axis tracking system covering more than 141 hectares of land.

“These solar facilities are expected to support the local economy through job creation and generation of clean, renewable power,” said Jim O'Neil, president and chief executive officer of Quanta Services. “We are proud to apply our engineering, procurement and construction expertise to this project.”

Pre-construction activities began in October 2012 and the projects are expected to be completed in 2013.
