Natcore Technology and MX Holding advised that they had mutually signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture for the research and development of efficiency and cost in the solar industry. The R&D work will incorporate Natcore’s liquid phase deposition (LPD) technology combined with work by Dr. Daniele Margadona, CTO of the MX Group.

Array Technologies has shipped its first solar tracking system for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District’s (SMUD) 50MW PV installation in south Sacramento County, California. The utility-scale project is being developed by Recurrent Energy with Swinerton Renewable Energy acting as the EPC for the installation.

Following on from the recent Solyndra debacle, the head of the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Loan Program, Jonathan Silver, has resigned his post. Although the two incidents might well be unrelated, media reports are hinting at the two being linked, following the DOE’s bestowal of a loan of US$535 million to the now-bankrupt Solyndra.

SolarEdge Technologies has gained certification for its module-embedded power optimizers, rendering them ready for commercial deployment. The optimizers, now recognized and listed for use in North America, are embedded as a junction box in smart modules and are capable of arc detection and termination.

KDC Solar has joined forces with SunDurance Energy and the County of Middlesex, New Jersey to build a 6.7MW solar array. The ground-mounted system will generate 8.45 million kWh of solar electricity a year, catering for all of the energy requirements of the Middlesex Apple Orchard Complex in North Brunswick where it is being built.

Renewvia Energy advised that it had commissioned its 1.26MW solar system at the Northport Industrial Centre in New Jersey. Working with Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) and two of Renewvia’s partners, , the solar project has brought PSE&G’s Solar Loan program over the US$100 million mark for solar financing in New Jersey.

Dow Chemical said it will make the commercial introduction of its Powerhouse solar roofing shingle to U.S. markets this month. The company plans a rolling launch into markets from California to the East Coast that will continue through 2012, starting with the debut program in Colorado in October.

SkyPower has secured a CAD$67 million revolving credit facility from Deutsche Bank, to be used to support the ongoing development of SkyPower's portfolio of utility-scale solar projects in Ontario, Canada. The facility is a letter credit facility innovatively structured to leverage the benefits of Ontario's green energy program and feed-in tariff.

Q-Cells North America has chosen Satcon Technology to supply an additional 40MW of its Prism Platform solutions for its Starwood solar project in Sault St Marie, Ontario. Q-Cells will use a combination of eight 1.25MW Equinox Prism Platforms and 24 1.25MW Solstice Prism Platform solutions at the site.

As vice president of sales he will be responsible for strengthening its sales management, business development and international business in order to expand its product offerings and customer installations.
