In 2015, CIL signed an MoU with SECI to install 1GW of solar power plants across India. Last year SECI signed agreements with CIL for 200MW solar in Madhya Pradesh to be utilised by CIL subsidiaires Northern Coalfields (NCL) and South Eastern Coalfields (SECL).

Indian utility NTPC has also seen a flurry of DCR tenders recently.
