Solar-Konzept has started building work on its 28MW solar park in Giebelstadt, Germany. The project, located on the site of a former NATO airport, will be equipped with 120,000 REC modules, making it one of the largest in the whole of Bavaria.

Community support has proved vital in bringing the project to reality, with the district council providing planning permission for the 40 hectare site and local financial partners contributing significantly to the €50 million development cost. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

“REC is proud to be the supplier selected by Solar-Konzept for this hallmark project in the important German market. This is the largest solar project using REC modules to date,” REC Group's chief operating officer, John Andersen, added.
