Solea and Pinpoint Ventures Holding have announced they are working on a 100MW PV plant in partnership with the Raasi Solar Park in Tamil Nadu in the south of India.

Bavarian engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm Solea and Heidelberg-based Pinpoint signed an agreement in April to work together to enter the Indian market.

The Solar Park development in Tamil Nadu was signed-off by the Tamil Nadi Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) and developer Raasi Green Earth Energy (RGEE), part of the Raasi Group, last month.

“Our strategic partnership with Pinpoint with its strong presence in south India has given us a challenging opportunity to build a project of this size,” said Georg Sterner, CFO, Solea. “A 100MW project with a ‘Made-in-Germany’ tag will also be a milestone in the renewable energy cooperation between India and Germany,” he added.

“As one of the first companies from Germany to focus on south India’s renewable energy sector, we are very happy to announce this cooperation with the Raasi Group and we plan to build more than 300MW of solar plants during the next 3-4 years,” said Kishore Pinpati, managing director, Pinpoint.

“The bankable solar policy of Tamil Nadu together with the support of Raasi and the government of Tamil Nadu provides a secure platform for building many solar projects in this state,” he added.
