Spire has begun the expansion of its Advanced Technology Center (ATC) Lab at its corporate headquarters in Bedford, MA, with updated equipment for customer evaluation and factory training. The new Spire systems installed include a larger format laminator and electroluminescence crack detection system, as well as next-generation assembler and simulator gear.

Spire’s ATC Lab includes a fully functioning PV module production line. Customers use the facility for the development and qualification of new and advanced crystalline-silicon and thin-film modules. Also, the site provides support for the development and qualification of new materials for module encapsulation, glass types, cell structures, and associated electronics, according to the company.
