SunBorne Energy is joining forces with the University of South Florida, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and IMDEA Energy to develop a 1MW solar power tower. Research and development for the cutting-edge project will draw upon the expertise of Dr Yogi Goswami, Dr Manuel Romero and Dr Aldo Stienfeld, with funding coming primarily from the Indian Government’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and SunBorne.

The tower itself will include a field of heliostats designed by Titan Tracker – chosen due to their high accuracy and reliability. “We have selected Titan Trackers because of its performance according to our requirements but also combined with a relevant potential for cost reduction. This will allow us to achieve our targets for next commercial CSP projects in India,” said one of the principal investigators of the R&D project, Dr. Nitin Goel.
