Solar has announced that it has received an order for two end-to-end
thin film silicon production lines from Sunwell, a wholly owned
subsidiary of CMC Magnetics. The first 60MW delivery will be to
Sunwell’s Taiwan facility, while the remaining 120MW will be for
Sunwell’s new site that is currently under construction.

Production of the lines, which use Oerlikon’s tandem cell technology, is scheduled for 2009. CMC has adhered to its plans to increase capacity to 1GW per annum, and this additional 180MW will bring CMC’s yearly production capacity to 226MW.
