Move to finance panel installations with US$13,000 facilities sees the light as smaller PV segment grows exponentially to hit 415MW in Q1 2019.

US government development finance institution Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) has committed US$25 million in financing to a fund managed by off-grid solar firm SunFunder, which will provide loans to companies developing off-grid solar products and solutions for Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

Residential solar financing company Sunlight Financial announced Wednesday that Technology Credit Union (Tech CU), a credit union based in Silicon Valley, has committed up to US$500 million for about 20,000 residential PV loans originated by Sunlight’s national network of installers.
