Residential solar, storage and energy services provider Sunrun announced Thursday that it has reached an agreement with global media and technology company Comcast designed to spur the adoption of solar energy through the installation of Sunrun’s rooftop PV products.
Sunrun, the largest dedicated residential solar company in the US, announced this week that it is expanding its home solar business to Texas, one of the sunniest and most populous states in the county.
Reports surfaced on Monday of former managers at one of the largest US solar companies Sunrun claiming that they manipulated key sales data around the time of the company’s 2015 initial public offering (IPO).
The seasonally soft first quarter of the year for the residential solar rooftop market in the US played out again in 2017, with the addition of much heavier rainfall, notably in California. A basket of primarily US residential installers that are publically listed have recently reported first quarter results.
Shares of residential solar company Sunrun fell nearly 10% in trading yesterday after news broke of the investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on whether the company adequately disclosed how many customers had cancelled contracts.
The trend continues for expanding access for low-income households to go solar, as residential installer Sunrun extends its partnership with GRID Alternatives, the nation’s largest non-profit solar installer.
