Chinese manufacturer Trina Solar’s TSM-PE05A and TS-PE14A modules have received 1500V certification from the Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

The certification means the modules have met the necessary quality and technical standards to be used in 1500V PV systems, which are becoming increasingly common as the industry seeks new ways to bring down plant costs.

Trina said the higher system voltage modules would enable its customers to design PV systems with longer string length, reducing the number of balance of system components in plants and thereby the levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) it generates.

Zhiguo Zhu, chief operating officer and president of the module business unit of Trina Solar, commented: “We believe that the higher voltage products allow us to deliver more value to our customers by providing better performance products and system cost savings. We remain committed to delivering more breakthroughs and innovations in the PV sector.”

Trina joins an increasing number of companies such as First Solar, JA Solar and Canadian Solar bringing 1500V products to the market.
