The park will be in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu, in southern India.

Minister for Industries, Thiru Thangamani , who laid the foundation stone on Sunday, said the park would reach 70MW of capacity by January, before reaching its full capacity of 100MW in April, local press reported.

The INR920 crore project will be built on about 600 acres of land, by RGEE associates Larsen and Toubro.

RGEE also has seven other 50-100MW solar projects in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu’s solar energy policy 2012 aims to install 3000MW by 2015, and forms part of India’s Jawaharlal Nehru national solar mission (JNNSM) to increase installed solar capacity and provide tariffs to subsidise costs.
