This past month has seen Conergy secure orders for various solar power plants totalling more than 5MW in the USA. Conergy has provided three different states with project development services, planning, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, permitting and operations and maintenance.

The loss of the company's sales director for the US distribution sales business earlier this month, John Marcarelli, who left to join Phoenix Solar, does not appear to have impeded the company's progress in North America.

In the state of California, system manufacturer, Conergy is realising a total of four projects on farmland, urban rooftops and carports, predominantly supplying Californian farmers as well as government and educational establishments. This includes Grimmway’s carrot farm located at Arvin, California and solar installations for school building for Muroc Joint Unified School District.

In Hawaii, Conergy recently equipped one of the largest rooftop plants on the island of Oahu for the film and photography giant Fujifilm. The state of Pennsylvania is benefitting from a 1.1MW park in 2009 which at the time was one of the largest power plants on the US east coast. Conergy is now set to build a 1.8MW large-scale power plant for a local utility in Pennsylvania.

The mounting systems for nearly all these projects will also be provided from the new Conergy factory in Sacramento. In September it was also reported that they had chosen to equip their portfolio of PV projects in Northern California with Opel Solar’s TF-800 series single-axis trackers. The trackers will be fitted with Conergy's P 235W PV modules.

President of Conergy North America Anthony Fotopoulos stated, “The US market is experiencing strong growth. With our professional team, our tailor-made solutions for large-scale projects, and our strong project pipeline, Conergy will continue to be a leading player across North America.”

Conversely, in Europe, Conergy has not has as much success as in North America. Having denied the rumours in late August, in September the company advised the halting of its wafer and cell manufacturing site in Hamburg, Germany.
