Intersolar Europe: SolarWorld to launch glass-glass bifacial modules

German manufacturer SolarWorld will launch bifacial modules, a new storage system and a new residential inverter at Intersolar Europe this year.

The company will be unveiling a glass-glass module using 60 bifacial cells that it claims can offer as much as 25% improved yields. SolarWorld claims that the durability provided by the glass enables it to have a service life of 30 years.

Although they will be unveiled at Intersolar Europe, the first Sunmodule Protect 360° duo will not be available until the fourth quarter of 2015.

Also on show in Munich will be the company’s second lithium-ion storage battery. The scalable system is available in 2kW units up to 10kW in one cabinet. According to SolarWorld the SunPac LiOn system demonstrates a depth of charging of 100% with a total of 10,000 charging cycles possible. The battery is designed to enable customers to make the most of self-consumption system will also be available from the fourth quarter.

SolarWorld will also launch a residential inverter which it claims “plugs a gap in its current product range and now offers all of the components of a solar power system in its own name”. The company currently offers Kostal and SMA inverters as part of its kits.
