During Mage Solar’s unveiling of its Powertec Plus modules at Intersolar Europe 2011, the company announced that it had started production of the module line at its Dublin, Georgia plant at the beginning of June. Testing and certification for the 190W monocrystalline and 230W polycrystalline modules was successfully completed, allowing the modules to begin production in Dublin earlier this month.
Circadian Solar has acquired further premises in the UK as it prepares to launch pilot production of its concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) system, reports Solar Power Portal. The 2,000-square-foot site is located close to the company’s head office at the Viscount Centre on the University of Warwick Science Park and has been modified to accommodate the prototype manufacturing line.

The Linde Gases Division today celebrates the official opening of its on-site fluorine system equipment facility in Inju City, South Korea. The newly constructed 3,700m2 facility, which required a total investment of €2.5 million, aims to meet the increasing demand for Linde’s fluorine technology worldwide in the photovoltaic, semiconductor and TFT-LCD device sectors.
China-based c-Si solar cell manufacturer Goldpoly has teamed with GCL-Poly (Suzhou) New Energy, a subsidiary of GCL-Poly Energy Holdings, to build a 300MW wafer plant in Quanzhou dedicated to Goldpoly’s requirements. According to GCL-Poly, the new plant location in the southeastern region of mainland China could be a springboard for GCL to enter the Taiwan market.
Isofoton and Hankook Silicon are planning to build what’s being called one of the world’s largest polysilicon factories in the Spanish region of Andalusia. The South Korean materials house will reportedly invest €600 million and supply technology for the 10,000MT-capacity Silicio Energía plant, to be located in Los Barrios, Cádiz.
Next week’s Intersolar Europe 2011 exhibition in Munich will see vogt group showcase its range of energy efficiency technology for solar production facilities. The German company’s Cleaner Production Services focuses on improving on-site energy efficiency, building efficiency, power management, water and gas recycling, heat recovery and the treatment of contaminated exhausts fumes.
Despite the severe revenue impact that the Great East Japan earthquake had on Sharp operations and uncertainty over providing full-year financial forecasts, the electronics firm has provided a business forecast for its FY2012. Sharp said at a press conference held in Japan that its operating profit may grow to 97 billion yen (US$1.2 billion), an increase over last years results of 78.9 billion yen.

Microinverter firm, SPARQ, headquartered in Kingston, Ontario is to have its new microinverters and communications hubs for PV systems manufactured by Sanmina-SCI at its Ottawa facility, which is certified for Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program, and at Sanmina-SCI’s worldwide regional facilities for global distribution.
