Armenia’s Ministry of Energy Infrastructure and Natural Resources announced earlier this week that it has pre-qualified 10 companies for a 55MW solar tender.
The solar tender was originally announced back in May, with 40 unspecified developers initially expressing interest in developing solar projects.

The ten companies prequalified for the next stage of the tender are TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis, Risen Energy, Enerparc Projects and Eren Renewable Energy.
In addition, there are consortiums formed between Subsolar Energy Holding and Phelan Energy Group, Korea Electric Power Corporation and Shapoorji Pallonji, UAE Access Infra Central Asia Limited, TSK Electronica and Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, Acciona and Building Energy — as well as a group led by Sky Power Global.
Hayk Harutyunyan, Armenia’s minister of energy, said: “In this pre-qualification stage of the tender, participants will compete with price offers. Preference will be given to the company or consortium that submits the lowest and most competitive price offer.”
The tender process is expected to start as early as 2018, with construction of the 55MW portfolio expected to begin shortly thereafter.
