India’s ALMM-II adds G12R TOPCon cells in ninth revision

India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has published the ninth revision of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for solar PV cells, adding larger-format G12R n-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) cells from Emmvee Energy, Waaree Energies and Avaada Electro.

The additions point to a continued shift in India’s domestic solar cell manufacturing market towards larger-format cell designs, with the latest listings featuring 182.3mm × 210mm formats and 16-busbar configurations.

Waaree moves from M10R to G12R

Waaree Energies has added a G12R, 16-busbar n-type bifacial TOPCon cell under the model WSC-N-G12R 16BB. The cell measures 210mm × 182.3mm (± 0.25mm).

Waaree’s previous M10R n-type bifacial TOPCon cell had an average efficiency of 25.54% and average wattage of 8.53W. The new G12R cell has an average efficiency of 25.39% and average wattage of 9.73W.

The change primarily represents a move to a larger cell format and higher cell wattage rather than a direct efficiency improvement.

The model is listed for production at Waaree’s Navsari, Gujarat manufacturing facility and has a validity period from 15 December 2025 to 14 December 2029.

Emmvee adds 16BB G12R TOPCon cell

Emmvee Energy has added its EM16D1-TCM12R bifacial mono-crystalline silicon TOPCon cell to the ALMM-II list.

The cell measures 182.3mm × 210mm, uses 16 busbars and has an average efficiency of 25.60%, with an average wattage of 9.80W.

The addition builds on Emmvee’s earlier EM16D1-TCM10 model, which uses a smaller 182.2mm × 183.75mm cell format and has an average efficiency of 24.62% and average wattage of 8.24W.

The new G12R model also has a higher listed manufacturing capacity. Emmvee’s capacity for the new model is 2,153MW per year, compared with 1,553MW per year for its earlier model.

The Emmvee listing is valid from 31 July 2025 to 30 July 2029 and will be produced at its manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Avaada shifts to 16BB G12R architecture

Avaada Electro has added two G12R n-type TOPCon cell variants to its portfolio as part of a model and capacity addition for its manufacturing facility in the Butibori Industrial Area in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The first is N-G12R-16B-HC-AVA, a half-cut cell measuring 105mm × 182.3mm (±0.5mm). It has an average efficiency of 25.83% and average wattage of 4.93W.

The second, N-G12R-16B-FC-AVA, is a full-cell version measuring 210mm × 182.3mm (±0.5mm). It has an average efficiency of 25.71% and average wattage of 9.83W. Both use 16 busbars.

Avaada’s earlier portfolio included G12 TOPCon cells with 18 busbars. Its earlier half-cut and full-cell variants had average efficiencies of 25.63% and 25.57%, respectively.

The latest G12R additions therefore represent a change in cell architecture from G12 18BB to G12R 16BB, with the new models listed at average efficiencies of 25.83% for the half-cut cell and 25.71% for the full-cell.

The Avaada models are listed from 22 July 2026 to 21 July 2030. The company was first added to the list in the eighth revision published on 22 July 2026.

Other manufacturers receive ALMM-II revisions

The latest revision also includes amendments to existing listings from several other Indian manufacturers.

TP Solar has received revisions for both its mono-crystalline passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) and TOPCon bifacial cells manufactured at its Gangaikondan Industrial Park facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.

For its 182.2mm × 182.2mm, 10-busbar mono-crystalline PERC bifacial cell, the listed efficiency range has been revised from 22-23.7% to 20.50-23.70%, while wattage has been revised from 7.27-7.84W to 6.55-7.84W.

Its 182.2mm × 182.2mm, 10-busbar mono-crystalline TOPCon bifacial cell now has a listed efficiency range of 20.50-25.50%, from the previous range of 22.5-25.5%, while wattage now ranges from 6.55-8.43W, which has been changed from 7.44-8.43W. TP Solar was added to the list under the first revision in August 2025.

RenewSys, at its Maheswaram manufacturing facility in Telangana, has received a revision for its 182.2mm × 183.75mm, 16-busbar bifacial n-type TOPCon cell. The new listing has an efficiency of 20.50-25.60% and wattage of 6.85-8.54W.

Premier Energies has also received a revision for its G12R, 182.3mm × 210mm, 16-busbar bifacial n-type TOPCon cell, which is produced at its Telangana plant. The listing covers efficiency from 22.50-26.00%, with wattage ranging from 8.61-9.95W.

Meanwhile, Reliance Industries has received a revision for its HJT cell manufactured at its Jamnagar, Gujarat facility. The cell measures 210mm × 105mm and has no busbars. Its listed efficiency range is 23.80-26.00%, with wattage ranging from 5.28-5.74W.
