The plant is to be owned by the state Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), a National Oil and Gas Authority subsidiary.

The plant is part of national initiative for Bahrain to reach 10% renewable energy generation.

Adel Almoayyed, CEO of BAPCO said the solar plant “will be the first step in Bahrain’s march towards a solar future”.

Marty Youssefiani, chief executive of Caspian Renewable Energy said the project is “an important milestone in the public-private partnership between Bahrain and the US”.

Youssefiani added that Caspian is committed to long-term investment in further research and development (R+D) and manufacturing in Bahrain’s renewable energy industry.
