Bridgestone is to add a new ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) production line to its factory in Żarów, Poland. An investment of US$58 million will be used to fund the installation, with manufacturing scheduled to begin during the first half of 2013.
The new line will be capable of producing 1,080 tonnes per month and help Bridgestone consolidate its position as the world’s leading producer of EVA film; its current market share stands at 30%. To cater for rising demand for EVA film, Bridgestone will also increase output capacity by 60% at its Japanese plants in Iwata and Seki – producing 6,600 tonnes by mid-2012.
