Canadian Solar has become a sponsor of U.S. Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants. The Giants’ home ground, the AT&T Park, was also the first Major League ballpark to receive U.S Green Building Council certification for leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED) for existing buildings, operations and maintenance (EBO&M). The baseball team has also led activities in water and energy efficiency, including the use of solar electricity.

As part of the partnership, Canadian Solar and the Giants will launch the “Score with Canadian Solar” sweepstakes where baseball and solar fans can enter to win Giants tickets, authentic Major League baseballs autographed by a current Giants player and free solar installation quotes.

“We are proud to be a sponsor of the San Francisco Giants, one of the oldest and most respected franchises in Major League Baseball. This elite organization, whose leading green business practices are in line with our own, is not only our local baseball team but also our partner in furthering the adoption of renewable energy and sustainability,” said Dr. Shawn Qu, chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar. “In fact, AT&T Park is one of the greenest ballparks in the country. The San Francisco Giants are a solid partner for us, with some of the best fans and players in the country, and we look forward to working toward our common goal of a successful and environmentally-conscious season.”

“It was only natural for us to partner with a leader in the field of clean solar energy,” said Jason Pearl, managing vice president of corporate sponsorship and new business development for the San Francisco Giants. “As one of the country’s most environmentally-friendly ballparks, we are excited to further environmental awareness amongst our fans through our partnership with Canadian Solar.”
