PV mounting system company Clenergy will provide 1MW of anodized aluminium mounting structures to a project in Malaysia, which it calls a “strong start” to its expansion into the Southeast Asia market.

Clenergy, which is jointly headquartered in China and Australia, will provide its PV-ezRack SolarTerrace III to the unnamed project, which is located in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, Malaysia.

Clenergy claims that the rack’s pre-fabricated and foldable nature maximises its value to clients and that the ground screws make it suitable for local soil conditions. Sabah has a typically equatorial climate with two annual monsoon seasons and average temperatures of between 26 and 28 degrees.

In addition to the mounting structures, Clenergy also makes inverters in the 1.5kW to 6kW range as well as solar controllers for voltage regulation.

In February of this year, consultancy firm Ernst & Young highlighted Malaysia as one of a number of new markets with the potential to boost investment in clean energy in 2014. The country has support schemes including a feed-in tariff (FiT) programme, funded by surcharges on electricity bills.
