
Due in large part to the dramatic growth in the renewable-energy market, Duke Energy has accelerated its 2020 renewable-energy goal by 33%.
Duke Energy expects to own or buy 8000MW of wind, solar and biomass capacity by 2020 — a 33% increase from its previous goal of 6000MW set back in 2013.

By the end of 2015, Duke Energy owned or purchased nearly 4,400MW of wind, solar and biomass — 49% wind, 39% solar and 12% biomass.
Overall, Duke Energy operates over 52,000MW of generating capacity in the US. Since 2013, Duke Energy has helped communities bring in more than 37,000 jobs and over US$10 billion in capital investment.
