E-CL and Quiborax are teaming up to build a 2MW solar park, which will be the first to be connected to the Northern Interconnected System (SING) in Chile. The project will help provide electricity to mining development in the XV region of Arica and Parinacota.
The project was first conceived as an addition to the plant that Quiborax has in El Aguila Hill. The mining company decided to contact E-CL to propose a strategic alliance, which resulted in the project that will use unconventional renewable energy.

The solar park will be built on land owned by Quiborax and loaned to E-CL. It will be connected to the SING system through the El Aguila substation, also owned by E-CL. Construction on the solar park is anticipated to begin soon with operation expected to begin in the first half of 2013.
