A 5.86MW solar plant in Massachusetts has begun commercial operation, according to independent power producer EDF Renewable Energy.
The Lancaster Solar Project is built on 12 hectares of private land on the site of a former airport.

The fixed tilt system was developed by Urban Green Technologies and is using 19,000 Canadian Solar modules. It is using SMA inverters and Schletter racking.
Electricity generated from the installation is being sold to the town of Billerica under a long-term power purchase agreement under the state’s Virtual Net Metering Credits Program.
EDF will provide operations and maintenance services through its operations control centre, which is now monitoring more than 7.4GW of renewable generation capacity in North America.
The Lepomis project, also in Massachusetts, opened in June 2014 taking EDF's total installed North American solar projects past the 300MW mark.
