German consumers are not given enough information about storage options when it comes to purchasing and comparing solar power systems, according to a report published by EUPD Research.

EUPD Research senior manager Thomas Olbrecht claims that only one in five solar power customers are asked by the installation company serving them whether they are interested in combining their power generation with a battery storage system.

The study Retail Monitor 3.0 – The German PV market from the perspective of the end customer – Focus: Storage Solutions argues that along with economic barriers, the lack of uptake in storage systems owed to a lack of communication between installation companies and their customers.

The quantitative online survey consists of interviewing nearly 3,000 PV system owners and potential buyers. The report also analyses brand awareness of storage systems, module and inverter manufacturers as well as what EUPD claims is “detailed insight into the distribution of installed storage facilities”. The report also discusses maintenance and operation of facilities.
