Located in the Dedza district, near the town of Golomoti, the 20MWac solar PV and 5MW/10MWh energy storage project is set to become a leading example in sub-Saharan Africa of the value of solar PV coupled with energy storage.

Ginlong Technologies (Solis) has published its 2020 annual report, showing that company revenue reached USD 321.6 million, an increase of 83% year-on-year. Net profit attributable to shareholders was USD 48.9 million, a year-on-year increase of 151%. Net profit after the deduction of extraordinary items was USD 43.1 million, +130% year-on-year, with net cash flow from operating activities USD 56.3 million, +154% on 2019.

Sungrow has announced the signing of a contract to supply inverters for the 200MW Kom Ombo project in Egypt, following an agreement between ACWA Power and the EPC contractor Sterling and Wilson. The project will be the country’s largest privately developed utility-scale solar plant and will increase the share of renewable energy in Egypt’s energy mix in line with national targets.

Testing at the Institute for Solar Energy Research (ISFH) in Hamelin, Germany, has confirmed that the conversion efficiency of N-type monocrystalline bifacial TOPCon cells developed at LONGi’s Cell R&D Center has reached 25.09%, the first time that the efficiency of a TOPCon cell based on a commercial size silicon wafer has exceeded 25%.
