JinkoSolar has announced that it has signed the first batch of residential energy storage orders with customers in Thailand, a move which will act as strong support in developing “PV + ESS” solutions to meet residential needs.

To combat the challenge of ‘fake’ modules of low quality appearing on the international market, German manufacturer AE Solar now integrates Near-Field Communication (NFC) chips into each of its panels. This innovative technology ensures that all its customers will benefit from original product quality, with the associated warranties, allowing any smartphone user to verify the authenticity of an AE Solar product in a matter of seconds, via a free to download app.

Huawei has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Enertech Holding Company in Kuwait to develop an Eco-Friendly Smart Destination and 500 MW of solar power plants in Pakistan. Huawei Technologies Pakistan will be Enertech’s leading technology partner for both ventures.

JinkoSolar has announced that its Cheetah monofacial series modules have been deployed at Asia’s largest carport facility. Located in northern India, the flagship project has an installed capacity of 20 MWp – the highest of any carport across Asia.

Sungrow has announced the official opening of a further R&D centre in Nanjing. The opening took place on July 16, coinciding with the first day of China’s national carbon emission trading market. The new centre will focus on R&D in areas such as smart technologies, big data and software integration and is expected to become the company’s second largest research institute over the next three to five years.

Two key products from Huawei’s FusionSolar Residential Smart PV product suite --- the SUN 2000 Smart Energy Controller and the LUNA 2000 Smart String Energy Storage System (ESS) --- have been recognised with iF Design awards for 2021, the company has announced.

Ginlong Technologies (Solis) has announced that it has collaborated with UK renewable energy company Engenera to install a rooftop solar power system for plastics manufacturer Faerch Plast. At 2MW, utilizing Solis 110kW inverters and with over 4,000 modules, this is a substantial large scale rooftop installation.

Sungrow has announced that it has supplied its inverter solutions to the world’s largest commercial & industrial rooftop PV plant. Located at an industrial park with 43 rooftops in Jining, in China’s Shandong province, the 120MW plant is expected to generate an annual 110 GWh of energy, powering the industrial park facilities and feeding the excess electricity produced into the grid as one of the region’s grid-parity projects.

Trina Solar has conducted stringent dynamic mechanical load testing (DML) of its 210 Vertex 670W module, comparing it with competitors’ single-glass 540W and dual-glass 535W modules in extreme environments based on International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. The testing demonstrated that the Vertex module delivered better performance in terms of DML reliability and, with the double-glass 210 mm Vertex also passing extreme 20,000 cycle, 20-fold testing, its DML reliability has been fully validated.

According to the latest policy of China's National Energy Administration (NEA), the state entity wants selected countries to have at least 20% of all residential roofs equipped with solar energy, as well as at least 30% of commercial and industrial structures, 40% of non-governmental public buildings, such as hospitals and schools, and half of the roofs on national estates. It is foreseen that this policy will boost the growth of distributed solar in the domestic market.
