Abrisa, industrial glass fabrication products and precision thin-film optical coatings company, has named industry veteran Jim Veler as President and Chief Executive Officer.  The appointment became effective June 1, 2009, although the company only announced this news September 10.

Prior to acquiring this position, Veler was Vice President and General Manager of Agilent Technologies’ Wireless Manufacturing Organization (Santa Rosa, CA). “My vision is to transform Abrisa from its roots as a respected global leader of high volume industrial glass fabrication to an innovator in providing precision optical product solutions. While we will be focusing on several markets, we are targeting substantial growth in four key segments: defense, medical, display, and lighting.  Abrisa has gained tremendous momentum with our two recent acquisitions and we plan to acquire at least one more company to help us better serve these strategic markets,” he said.
