Australia’s largest concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) solar park has been completed in Mildura, Victoria, Silex Systems has announced.
Capable of powering 500 homes, the Mildura 1.5MW power station has 40 fully commissioned ‘dense array’ CPV dishes, supplying renewable energy to the national electricity grid in a 2012 power purchase agreement with Diamond Energy.

“This could be a game-changing renewable energy technology” said Silex CEO, Michael Goldsworthy on the commercial use of ‘dense array’ CPV dishes.
The park was funded with A$10 million from the Victorian State Government and Federal Government, previously A$120 in government funding was predicted for the project.
The grand opening for the park will be held on the 17 July, and attended by Victorian energy and resources minister, Nicholas Kotsiras.
Plans are also under way for a 100MW park in Mildura, subject to funding, with construction starting in 2014.
