MacDermid formalises solar business unit

MacDermid, Incorporated has announced the formation of a new Photovoltaics business unit. Don Cullen, 20yr veteran of the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) industry will lead the new group. MacDermid already offers to PV manufacturers, wafer cleaning, conductor metallization to screen-printing and anti-reflective technologies.

Cullen commented on the new business “As the industry evolves into more efficient cells, there is a demand for new metallization and imaging techniques.  These are MacDermid’s core competencies. Use of chemical processes allow photovoltaics manufacturers an elegant path to significant reductions in cost per watt.”

The Photovoltaic Group will fall under MacDermid’s Advance Surface Finishing Segment.  The group will be headquartered in Waterbury, CT, USA.
