Martifer Solar commissioned to build 22MW solar plant in Portugal

Martifer Solar has signed a contract to install a 22MW PV project in Portugal. The system, which will be the largest in Portugal when completed next year, is being commissioned by an unnamed client of BNP Paribas Clean Energy Partners.

The plant is the first, and largest, of a number that Martifer plans to install in south Portugal and will generate around 37.4GWh of electricity a year. It also further expands the company’s global presence; in the past 12 months Martifer has installed systems in Cape Verde, India, Belgium, Italy and the Czech Republic.

“The project demonstrates Martifer Solar’s capacity to attract foreign investment towards the Portuguese renewables sector, despite the current difficult economic juncture,” said Martifer Solar’s CEO, Henrique Rodrigues. “These 22[MW] will be the first of a total of 33MWp to be built by Martifer Solar in South Portugal; I’m sure that these projects will bring relevant benefits for this region, both economically and environmentally.”
