Mitsubishi completes first of many agricultural rooftop projects in Japan

The first of a planned 80 rooftop projects on agricultural facilities in Japan has been started by JAMC Solar Energy, a joint venture firm between Mitsubishi Corporation and the National Federation of Agricultural Co-operative Associations.

The first project by JAMC Solar is a 799 kW PV system installed on the rooftops of ZEN-NOH Iwate's rice warehouses in Hanamaki-City, Iwate, Japan. A total of 3,300 242 watt modules will be used for the project at a cost of JPY 10 million.

The project is expected to start selling electricity to Tohoku Electric Power Company from September 2013.

In total the plan is develop around 80 sites said to have roughly 30MW of capacity in total and all eligible for the Japanese feed-in tariff.
