MPrime, a subsidiary of Martifer Solar, has announced its investment in an innovation programme for its photovoltaic module production line at the company’s factory in Oliveira de Frades, Portugal. The factory, which had already received ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 quality certification, now has an EL Tester to ensure greater quality control of the final product.

The company claims that this new technology, developed in partnership with MBJ Solution, makes it possible to discover hidden defects ensuring a high quality standard of the products the company sells. In June, MBJ Solutions won an award in the photovoltaic category at Intersolar for its Mobile PV test centre.

The process of assembling the PV cells is another innovation on the production line. The MPrime modules are now made up of three ribbons, which MPrime states enhances the performance of the product throughout its lifecycle.

This also included Saint-Gobain’s SolarBond InFrame sealant, which achieved the IEC61215 in May, regulating the safety performance of crystalline silicon terrestrial PV modules alongside Nordson’s foaming equipment, a new framing system to withstand 7,000 Pa of mechanical loading pressure (800 Pa corresponds to an approximate wind speed of 130 km/h). The MPrime Module passed the Heavy Snow Load Test carried out by TÜV Rheinland guaranteeing greater strength in adverse weather conditions.

“Investment in innovation of our production line is an example of our ambition. MPrime’s goal is to have products that excel in terms of quality but always at competitive prices. At MPrime we are focused on working with the best and on increasingly asserting ourselves as one of the best,” said Pedro Alves, the managing director of MPrime.

MPrime is also offering the option of including a monitoring system in the junction box with the modules allowing the customer the possibility of checking production information in loco. This technology sets off a safety system at high temperatures that isolates the module from others and prevents accidents if there is a fire.
