Ethiopia’s 250MW Scaling Solar tender moves forward
Ethiopia has issued Request for Proposals (RFP) as part of its 250MWac Scaling Solar tender, asking the 12 pre-qualified bidders to submit their final proposals before the end of June.
The Ethiopian PPP Directorate General within the Ministry of Finance launched the RfP today under the World Bank-backed procurement scheme, which attracted 28 applications after its announcement in October 2017.
The remaining 12 pre-qualified bidders have been sent a formal invitation to access the projects' data room starting today so they can work on their final proposals for the two PV projects each with a capacity of 125MWac.
The projects will be awarded to the bidders with the lowest proposed tariff.
This is the fifth Scaling Solar tender in Africa to date, with two rounds initiated in Zambia, one in Senegal and one in Madagascar, which includes energy storage.
