Sputnik Engineering AG’s SolarMax string inverters have been approved for use in Portuguese solar power plants. These four devices have nominal outputs ranging from 1.8-4.6kW and have been received the official certificate from the Portuguese Government Office last February.
Fernando Sánchez García, the Managing Director of Sputnik’s Spanish branch office in Madrid said, “In particular, Portugal promotes small solar power plants with very high rates of remuneration.”

This makes Portugal the ideal location for roof systems using string inverters. Sputnik had recently put out a string inverter with a nominal output of 3,68kW specifically for the Portuguese market. The company plans to supply the Portuguese market from a subsidiary in Spain, though the Spanish Royal Decree 1578/2008, introduced in 2008, will mainly reduce the average power of solar plants.
