DuPont Apollo, a subsidiary of DuPont, and China Everbright International have put the finishing touches for the on-grid 1.3MW rooftop PV installation at DuPont Apollo’s production facility in Shenzhen, China. The single-structure thin-film PV rooftop is the largest in China, according to the two companies.

“DuPont Apollo is pleased to collaborate with Everbright on this large-scale rooftop installation to support the daily operation of our production facility with clean and cost-effective solar electricity,” said David Chu, DuPont Apollo leader. “We hope this project will be a role model for other businesses that wish to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels by generating the electricity they need on their own rooftops.”

The project was first started in July 2010 and, using 13,000 amorphous silicon thin-film PV modules made by DuPont Apollo, covers around 23,000 square feet of roof space. The system will be able to produce 1.5 million kWh of electricity per year and is expected to last for over 25 years.
