Q-Cells Malaysia appoints Franz Vollmann as new managing director

Q-Cells Malaysia has appointed Franz Vollmann as its new managing director. Vollmann succeeds Q-Cells Malaysia founder Bernhard Rack and will be responsible for managing the operation and future growth of the company’s production facilities. He starts his new role on April 1.

Rack successfully established and managed Q-Cells’ Malaysian operation since June 2008. The site, which was empty land in an industrial park two-and-a-half years ago, now has a 600MW manufacturing facility and 500 employees.

“We warmly thank Bernhard Rack for the great work he and his team have achieved for Q-Cells not only in Malaysia,” said Nedim Cen, CEO of Q-Cells. “The output of the Malaysian solar cell production has outgrown the capacity of headquarters in Thalheim in 2010, thus positively contributing to Q-Cells’ competitive position on the world PV market. It will now be the task of Franz Vollmann, to continue and broaden this success. He will find an excellent support in the existing team.”

Prior to joining Q-Cells, Vollmann held managerial positions at companies such as Smartrac Technology and Molex Hong Kong.
