Soltec supplying 28MW of trackers for PV project in South Carolina

Solar PV tracking equipment provider Soltec announced that it is supplying 28MW of its SF Utility horizontal single-axis tracker to a PV project being constructed in the municipality of Estill, South Carolina.

Soltec solar trackers are often selected in order to deal with harsh climate conditions. High-wind events such as cyclones and tornadoes are common in the humid subtropical region of South Carolina.

José Alfonso Teruel, R&D manager at Soltec, said: “To meet the climate challenges of this project our R&D team has optimized control electronics to local conditions, and specified the appropriate foundation piles that maintain tracker stability against high winds. With these enhanced features, our trackers are configured to deliver as promised even during hurricane season, from June through November.

“Our high-speed motor design moves the tracker from the maximum tilt of 60 degrees to the horizontal position in less than three minutes for rapid stowing when strong winds are blowing.”

Ideal Power signs purchase agreement with NEXTracker for storage projects

Power conversion technology company Ideal Power announced Monday that it has signed off on a master purchase agreement with solar tracking company NEXTracker.

As part of the agreement, Ideal Power will supply NEXTracker with its 30kW SunDial storage-enabled multi-port PV string inverter, its 30 kW Stabiliti power conversion system and and a custom NEXTracker-exclusive 15 kW SunDial.

NEXTracker will integrate the systems into its NX Fusion Plus solar-plus-storage product and deploy them to various commercial, industrial and utility sites throughout North America.

NEXTracker CTO Alex Au said: “Ideal Power’s system is compact and versatile, enabling the seamless integration of solar-plus-storage in one inverter package. Now, project developers and system integrators have a solution for rapid installation, scalability and maximum energy output. We’re pleased to be working with Ideal Power to drive the adoption of integrated solar and storage.”

Ideal Power CEO Dan Brdar added: “NEXTracker’s solar-plus-storage product helps safeguard against the reduction or elimination of net metering incentives for new solar installations happening across North America, while providing a higher return on investment than solar alone. Array Technologies, Shoals Technologies to partner on structural BOS solutions

Solar tracker provider Array Technologies and solar electrical balance of systems (BOS) provider Shoals Technologies Group announced plans to collaborate on structural and electrical BOS solutions for utility-scale solar.

Both companies’ expertise in their respective fields will result in the creation of systems tailored for improved performance and stronger economics for project developers and asset owners — along with higher efficiencies for engineering, procurement, and construction companies.

Dean Solon, founder and CEO of Shoals, added: “Shoals has been designing electrical BOS for the Array tracker for years, and we are looking forward to a fresh approach on system integration with Ron and the Array team. The synergy between our two companies is unprecedented. Solar FlexRack to preview new turnkey tracker at Intersolar North America

Solar tracker provider Solar FlexRack announced that it will preview its new TDP 2.0 Turnkey Tracker at Intersolar North America from July 11 – 13.

The TDP 2.0 Tracker’s new design — BalanceTrac — boosts solar power system’s energy yields and cuts down on installation costs. When combined with  industry-leading project support services for commercial and utility-scale solar installations, Solar FlexRack’s new trackers offer more modules per row, greater rotational range, and more granular programmable technology to mitigate inclement climatic conditions.
