Electricity generated from the plant will be sold to Pacific Gas & Electric under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

“Copper Mountain Solar 2 is the third major solar project in Boulder City that Sempra US Gas & Power has completed in the past five years,” said Jeffrey W. Martin, President and CEO of Sempra US Gas & Power. “Nevada has a great business climate with leaders at the federal, state and local level who have helped make our projects successful.”

Phase two of the project will involve installing an additional 58MW of PV capacity which is slated to complete by 2015.

When the 150MW project is online, it will generate enough electricity to power 45,000 households.
