MEMC Electronic Materials has announced the appointment of Shihab Kuran as President of SunEdison Advanced Solutions.
Reporting directly to Ahmad Chatila, President and CEO of MEMC, Dr. Kuran will lead the company's Solar Energy Business Unit. As well as the company’s involvement in energy solutions and markets which incorporate advanced grid management products and technologies.

Prior to this role, Dr. Kuran was the Founder, President and CEO of Petra Solar, a company that pioneered “smart solar” for the electric supply industry.
He currently serves as a board member of the New Jersey Technology Council and on the advisory board at The Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurship at Fairleigh Dickinson University, as well as the External Advisory Board for Rutgers Innovation Park. He also serves on the advisory boards of the Edison Innovation Foundation and the Charles Edison Fund.

Dr. Kuran is also highly regarded in the technology and cleantech industries and was recognised by Greentech Media as one of the “100 people you must know in Smart Grid in 2012” and by Ernst & Young as the NJ Green Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010.
