SMA adds PV microinverters with acquisition of OKE technology platform

SMA Solar Technology has acquired the microinverter technology platform from Dutch company OKE-Services, a move that SMA says makes it the only manufacturer in the world with a product portfolio featuring all existing inverter technologies for operating photovoltaic systems of any size and with optimal technical system configuration.

In addition to further development of the pioneering OKE technology, SMA says it plans to launch its own microinverter products in the future to go along with its existing Sunny and Sunny Boy lines of traditional inverters.

OKE, one of the pioneers of microinverter technology, has more than 15 years of experience in the development and series production of the devices. The company has continuously optimized efficiency and specific price, both important parameters for the success of microinverters. OKE has also systematically reduced the number of components used in their products, a prerequisite for a good price-performance ratio and good product reliability.

Terms of the purchase price were not disclosed.
