SMA Solar boost global PV inverter market share to 38%

Record sales and market share gains marked SMA Solar Technology AG’s financial results for 2008. Sales more than doubled to €682 million, representing a slight increase on preliminary results reported in February, 2009.

SMA said it had increased its PV inverter output sold by about 130% to 2.2GW, compared to 950 MW in 2007. According to SMA it had a global market share of approximately 38%, up from 34% claimed in 2007. Sales were boosted by sales outside Germany, accounting for 42% of sales in 2008, compared to 29% in 2007.
