Solarcentury launches international expansion with senior appointments

British PV company Solarcentury has announced a series of international appointments as part of its plan to expand into new markets.

Solarcentury named Bertrand Belben as the company’s new director of international business development.

He will lead Solarcentury’s programme for international expansion, with particular responsibility in the emerging markets including Africa and Latin America.  

Belben has previously been business development director for AES and managing director of Innovent.

Tilman Beller is the new Solarcentury business development director in Latin America. Beller will establish the company’s new branch office in Panama.

His responsibilities include developing Solarcentury’s relationships with local partners in Latin America.

Archie Fraser has been appointed as the company’s director of corporate finance. Fraser’s role is to develop relationships with Solarcentury project investors.

Fraser has served as head of alternative energy at Redburn Parterns and co-founder of Envirocapital.

Mike Madeiros has been named as supply chain director. He is responsible for procurement and logistical services including security value across all equipment supply.

Madeiros will develop the company’s supply chain for its international network. In the past, he worked as head of operations and supply chain for Pacific Brands while he is the owner and managing director of Sugarcane.

The last appointment is Bruce Carter, as the company’s quality manager. Carter’s role is to develop the company’s internal processes, the company’s marketing channels and the maintenance of the ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 certifications.

A spokeswoman for Solarcentury said: “Our strategy is to expand internationally with a particular focus on grid parity markets. We’re proud to be flying the flag for British solar engineering.”
