Germany has added more than 2.6GW of solar capacity in the first three months of the year, according to The Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur).

Inverter supplier SMA Solar Technology has started the construction of a 20GW inverter factory in Germany expected to be operational in 2025.

The Federal Network Agency announced that with a tendered quantity of 1.95GW, 347 bids with a volume of 2.87GW were submitted.

The number of residential solar and storage systems installed in Germany increased 52% in 2022 compared with the previous year, whilst three quarters of Germans would consider installing rooftop solar.

Solar developer Lightsource bp has entered the German solar PV market and is aiming to develop between 300-400MW per year by 2030.

The German Solar Industry Association (BSW) has signed an agreement with the Indian Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) to integrate skilled workers from India into the German PV industry.

German independent power producer (IPP) Encavis has shown an improved financial results with its EBITDA up by about one third.

German renewables developer Pure New Energy (PNE) intends to scale up to an 8GW solar PV pipeline in the next five years.
