Kern County has approved US independent power producer (IPP) Terra-Gen’s 600MW solar and 4GWh battery storage project near California City.

The deal was first announced in March when Masdar said it would buy the 50% stake in Terra-Gen previously owned by Energy Capital Partners.

Developer Terra-Gen and contractor Mortenson have agreed to go ahead with what they claim is the world's largest standalone solar-plus-storage project in Kern County, California, US.
