Australia-based renewable energy company Renew Estate has been granted planning approval to build the 300MW Rodds Bay Solar Farm, located roughly 50 kilometres south of Gladstone, near the town of Bororen.
Queensland is currently the leading Australian state for large-scale solar development and is pushing the country towards another record year, according to Clean Energy Council chief executive Kane Thornton.
The first large-scale solar and battery storage project to be connected to the grid in Australia has started providing power to 3,000 homes and businesses in Far North Queensland (FNQ) while forming a test case for deliberate 'islanding'.
The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) have both financed the Kennedy hybrid solar, wind and storage project in north Queensland, which is being developed Windlab and Eurus Energy.
Queensland’s tender for 400MW of large-scale renewables and 100MW of energy storage has received 115 proposals from 79 different entities spanning a wide range of technologies, according to energy minister Mark Bailey.
