Major photovoltaic (PV) inverter manufacturer Sungrow Power Supply Co has said the largest floating PV power plant with a capacity of 40MW had been grid connected on former flooded coal mining region in Huainan, south Anhui province, China.
Sungrow’s 1500VDC string inverter is designed to significantly reduce installation and balance of system costs for utility-scale PV systems. Sungrow was the first inverter manufacturer to introduce a 1500VDC string inverter with its SG80HV, which has a power output of 80KW. The latest inverter, SG125HV, puts 125kW of capacity in a suitcase-sized cabinet weighing just 68kg. At a higher rated voltage, the SG125HV is claimed to further reduce installation and balance of system costs.
The prospect of Japan introducing a tender system for large-scale solar project rights from this year does not phase international companies doing PV business in Japan, who have said they are ready for the new policy.
Major PV inverter manufacturer Sungrow Power Supply said its inverter testing centre in China has been qualified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), to participate in the UL Witness Testing Data Program (WTDP).

In PV Tech’s second Solar Power International (SPI) 2016 new product round up several companies have taken a more holistic or scattergun approach to new product announcements, whereby a number of things, like the IoT (Internet of Things) are showcased, rather than a single product.
The annual US-based Solar Power International (SPI) exhibition and conference historically generates a significant number of new product launches and can set new trends and directions for the downstream solar PV sector, globally.
Sungrow Power Supply Co officially released the world’s first 1500V string inverter. The SG80HV has a power output of 80KW rated at 1500VDC. With a 2.5MW PV power block design and the ability to lift the maximum efficiency to 99%.
Recent first half 2016 downstream PV installation figures for China have led industry advisory firm AECEA to project full-year figures could be in the 25GW to 30GW range, significantly ahead of planned installs of around 18GW.
Major PV inverter manufacturer Sungrow Power Supply is confident that India’s solar market will continue its strong progress, despite recent concerns about certain project PV developers struggling to close financing.
